"Dish the Dirt: How My Love for Flowers Led to a Podcast Celebrating Local Growers"

Dish the Dirt: Sharing the Stories of Flower Farmers and the Beauty of Locally Grown Blooms

Flowers have always been at the heart of my world. From my early days working in floristry to running my own business, I’ve been lucky enough to immerse myself in the beauty, creativity, and connection that flowers bring. But over time, I started to notice something missing in the industry—a deeper recognition and appreciation for the growers behind the blooms we use every day.

That’s where Dish the Dirt was born.

From Floristry to Storytelling

Working as a florist, I was constantly inspired by the incredible blooms I had at my fingertips. But as I sourced flowers, I began to wonder: Who grows these? What are their stories? What challenges do they face? I realized there was a disconnect between growers and florists—two groups that depend so much on each other.

I wanted to bridge that gap, to create a space where flower farmers could share their experiences, challenges, and passion for their craft. So, I picked up a microphone, hit record, and Dish the Dirt became a reality.

A Podcast Rooted in Connection

Dish the Dirt is all about giving flower farmers a voice. Each episode, I sit down with growers from across Australia, diving into their journeys, the realities of farming, and what it takes to bring local, seasonal flowers to market. These conversations are raw, honest, and full of wisdom—not just for florists, but for anyone who values where their flowers come from.

The podcast has grown into something bigger than I ever imagined. It’s not just about farming; it’s about community, sustainability, and celebrating the people who make the floral industry thrive.

What’s Next?

With the launch of our new website, Dish the Dirt is evolving. Beyond the podcast, we’re creating a hub for growers and florists—a place to find industry news, discover local farms, and connect in new ways. I want this platform to be a resource, a conversation starter, and a way to keep shining a light on Australian flower farmers.

Starting this journey was about more than just storytelling—it was about fostering a movement toward transparency, appreciation, and support for locally grown blooms. And I can’t wait to see where it goes next.

If you haven’t already, have a listen to Dish the Dirt and join the conversation. The stories of our growers deserve to be heard, and I’m honored to share them with you.
